Look ahead for September 21st, 2015

Notes from the Principal:

You aren't reaching high enough if you are always succeeding.

The second window of walk-through's began last week and continue through December 11th.  As Ms. West and I continue our walk-through's and observations I want to remind you that our journey to remarkable, unforgettable and inspiring educators is often driven by feedback.  Sometimes the feedback that stings is the one that most often helps us professionally.  As teachers we need to be willing to look less than our best in the pursuit of our overall goals.

We, as a staff, can maximize feedback when we try to find positive outcomes in what appears to be "negative" or poor evaluations.  Feedback requires honesty on both sides of the conversation.  Negative feedback has a positive impact in your teaching when it is used for improving student performance.  Don't allow an observation, walk through, conversation, etc... allow you to become frustrated, apathetic, or give up.

Here are things I promise with our observations.  Because I truly believe "you get what you honor."

- I will allow positive feedback to stand alone.  I will not use a positive to soften a concern or something that needs to be addressed.

- I will share my struggles as an educator and grow with everyone.  Growth's a journey and not a destination.

- Failure will not be the norm.  We will support those individuals who are learning, growing and trying new things to reach our students.

- I will recognize individuals who fail, learn from it, grow as a result and continue working for student success.
