Look ahead for January 23, 2017

Notes from Mr. Ross:

There are lots of great things going on at Hayes Elementary.  I appreciate everyone helping out, coming together and making sure that we give our students and school the best opportunity to be successful.

- January 31st is the 100th day of school.  Start prepping for that day of celebrations.

- February 9th and 10th are parent conferences.  Make sure that our Green folders, APP forms, and grades are UP TO DATE and ready to go.  I will share some good news about this in the very near future.

- February 13th:  Professional Development at Hayes.  We will be merging with a few schools and doing an EdCamp that day.  More information on that coming soon!

- Intersession is a GO! ALL FIVE DAYS!  I have asked my bosses to reconsider and make Hayes a host site but as of right now we will be at Cesar Chavez Elementary right up the road.

Keep working with our kids, show up for work ready to go and make darn sure that we are doing what's best for them and not what's easy for us the adults.  I appreciate each and everyone one of you guys.  You all are a big part of the success at Hayes.  I ready to see us take the next step.

One final note, please keep Ms. Ingersoll and Ms. Wolfe in your thoughts are prayers.

Notes from Mr. Ross:

The only time we grow or get better professionally is when you hit that point of wanting to quit and you keep going instead.  Strength is not given to you or acquired casually.  Strength is forged in the fires of your soul.

Please continue to keep Ms. Wolfe and Ms. Ingersol in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to recover.

Notes from Mr. Ross:

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't!
If you like to win, but think you can't,
It's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you're lost,
for out in the world we find,
success begins with a fellow's will;
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are,
you've got to think high to rise,
you've got to be sure of yourself before
you can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go
to the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins,
is the man who THINKS HE CAN.

Let's have a good week.  Every second counts.

Look ahead for January 3, 2017

Notes from Mr. Ross:

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a great holiday season.  Am I the only one who comes back from break a little heavier on the scale but lighter in the wallet?

First and foremost remember to go over you routines and procedures the first few days we are back at school.  That includes the hallways, restrooms, lunch rooms, library, music, your classroom and dismissal.  Give your students some extra time to get back into the swing of things as they've had a vacation as well.  Start of the second semester on a positive note.

Be ready for the annual addition of move in's to Hayes Elementary.  We always have an increase of students this time of year...  Have a welcome classroom and keep an eye out for any concerning behavior.

***Remember that the second set of exemplars for math are due and need to be input into Mastery Connect.  We will go through those exemplars on Thursday during planning time.

***Report cards go home this week as well. I will send out an email letting you know the specific dates, etc...

*** January 9th starts our next round of F and P assessments.

*** We will have the second quarter awards assembly NEXT week at 9:00am.  Ms. Seybolt has a form for you to fill out for your students.  Those forms are due to Ms. Hunter NO LATER than Friday January 6th.

Make sure that you are teaching on your feet.  Set the tone for the next 12 weeks as they will make or break Hayes Elementary.  NOW is the time...  instruct, engage, and ensure your kids are learning.
