Week of June 2nd

Notes from the Principal:

It is very easy to succumb to the pitfalls and continued pressures being placed on public education and we brave souls who choose to work in the profession.  R.S.A., budget woes, increased class sizes, increased state and federal accountability to name a few...
My goal as a campus principal is to decrease the tedious and overwhelming work being placed on teachers and increase the time for our teachers to engage with their students.  Busy work, or as I so often call it "Easy teaching", is something I ask teachers to eliminate from their lessons and I will work to lessen those requirements for the teachers I have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis.

On the final days of this 2013-2014 school year I would like to take a few moments to point out what I love about being an educator.
- Working with kids!
- Working, helping those in need! It's definitely a calling.
- Supporting my students outside of the classroom.
- Watching my students compete in athletics, academic, and fine art events.
- Working collaboratively with professionals who are cutting edge, share insight, and desire to reach new heights in education.
- Seeing genuine moments of authentic learning taking place.
- Light bulb moments with teachers, parents and students.
- The opportunity to make a difference EVERYDAY.
- Three months off for summer!  Wait...what?

If you purchased a Hayes Autism shirt you may wear it Monday June 2, 2014 with jeans.  Tuesday is spirit day, everyone can wear jeans who wears a Hayes shirt.
